The planning for Clare Skate Park began in 2003. Swanbury Penglase was engaged to undertake a review of 5 possible sites with Sanders Apex Park chosen as the preferred option. The site allows good visibility from the main road, is close to local conveniences including the youth centre and has a wonderful setting on the river bank amongst the Oak trees.
An extensive consultation process with skaters and BMXers from the school and youth centre formed the brief for the design of the park. The skate park consists of a half pipe, fun box, manual pad and a myriad of banks, concrete and steel rails.
